Description

Zhu Ye Qing Bamboo – Prestigious Emei Mountain Green Tea

Zhu Ye Qing, or "Bamboo Green Leaf, " is among the most prestigious Chinese green teas. It's produced on beautiful Emei Shan in Sichuan Province, southwest China — one of China's Four Sacred Mountains, famous for its breathtaking scenery and abundant bamboo forests. The tea plantations sit high on the mountain slopes, covered by thick fog and heavy mist for most of the year, creating ideal conditions for sweet, tender leaves.

Zhu Ye Qing is harvested before Qing Ming, beginning just a few days before the festival in early April, when the first, most delicate spring buds appear. Its flat, slender leaves resemble bamboo leaves, giving the tea its poetic name.

Tasting Notes

  • Dry leaf: flat, slender and bamboo-leaf shaped
  • Liquor: clear and pale green
  • Flavor: slightly sweet with fresh vegetal notes
  • Accents: asparagus and fresh bamboo shoot
  • Finish: clean, fresh and delicate

Why You'll Love It

Zhu Ye Qing offers a pure, refreshing taste of early spring in the mountains. Its gentle sweetness and delicate vegetal character make it an elegant, soothing green tea for mindful moments. It's naturally rich in antioxidants and offers a calm, gentle lift.

  • From sacred Emei Shan, Sichuan
  • Pre-Qing Ming spring harvest
  • Mist-covered high mountain gardens
  • Sweet, fresh and vegetal

How to Enjoy

Brew it in a clear glass to watch the slender leaves stand and float, and re-steep for several cups. It pairs well with light dishes, steamed vegetables and seafood.

Pure, graceful and full of mountain freshness, Zhu Ye Qing Bamboo is a treasured Chinese green tea.

My son lives and works in China, introduced me to this as a Christmas present. This is the nicest green tea I have had. Subtle and refreshing, 4g/250ml and good for several refills.

The tea is strong and bitter, but I love it! The quality is great too.

I love this tea. Its very unique among green teas. The dry leaf is needle like and smells of fresh, green bell pepper (to me). Once steeped, it retains the aroma and expected flavor of the dry leaf. Slightly sweet with a hint of astringency. Excellent and out of the ordinary.
