Description
Bairui Xiang Rock Oolong is a refined Wuyi rock tea harvested at the end of spring from the core growing areas of Wuyishan. That season brought mild temperatures, gentle sunlight, and minimal rainfall—ideal conditions that allowed the leaves to develop a bright, transparent inner quality. This balance in nature is clearly reflected in the finished tea: its aroma is pure, restrained, and quietly penetrating rather than showy or forceful. The dry leaves are tightly twisted, bluish-brown in colour, with a subtle natural sheen. Upon opening the tin, Bairui Xiang’s signature fragrance rises immediately—a rich yet delicate floral aroma. Unlike the spicy intensity of Rougui, this floral note is soft and powdery, carrying a faint rose-like sweetness. Fresh and lucid, it evokes petals touched by morning dew—elegant, calm, and quietly captivating. When boiling water is poured over the leaves, the aroma blooms vividly with the steam, naturally interwoven with the deep mountain energy unique to Wuyi rock oolong. The first sip is smooth and silky, gliding gently across the tongue. Though the body is light, it is never thin; floral notes unfold in graceful layers, spreading slowly from the tip of the tongue toward the centre. As the tea moves through the throat, a brief touch of astringency appears before giving way to the classic yan yun—a cool, mineral clarity reminiscent of spring water filtering through stone. Medium charcoal roasting adds a restrained warmth that supports the floral fragrance and rocky structure without overshadowing them, lending balance and composure to the cup. A gentle sweetness follows, accompanied by steady salivation and a lingering interplay of floral elegance and mineral resonance. Clean, smooth, and enduring, Bairui Xiang embodies a quiet strength—subtle yet layered, serene yet expressive. This season’s tea offers exceptional clarity within its gentle floral profile, presenting a refined example of the lighter, more ethereal style of Wuyi rock oolong. |
