Description

1980's 35 Years Aged Royal Pu'erh Guangxi – Rare Vintage Golden Pu-erh

We are delighted to offer 1980's 35 Years Aged Royal Pu'erh Guangxi, a fine aged golden pu-erh that is rare, highly sought after and available only in limited supply. This royal pu-erh was grown and harvested during the 1980s — more than 35 years ago — and has been patiently aging ever since. Time has given it unique characteristics and a depth of smoothness that are otherwise impossible to achieve.

Long aging transforms tea in remarkable ways. Sharp edges soften, flavors deepen and the texture becomes rich and silky. This vintage royal pu-erh produces a bold, intense earthy flavor — think freshly turned soil or rich topsoil — layered with warm spice and aged wood, all carried in an incredibly clear tea liquor.

Tasting Notes

  • Flavor: bold, intense earthiness reminiscent of freshly turned soil
  • Accents: cinnamon spice, leather, camphor and bark
  • Liquor: incredibly clear and bright
  • Mouthfeel: silky, full and luxurious
  • Finish: long, mature and deeply satisfying

Why You'll Love It

Our 35 Year Aged Royal Pu'erh is a vintage treasure and a must-try for any tea enthusiast. Each cup unfolds in layers — deep earth, warm spice, leather and aged wood — revealing the full complexity that only decades of maturity can bring. It's a standout piece for any collection and an unforgettable gift for someone who appreciates truly rare teas.

  • A rare, limited-supply golden pu-erh from Guangxi
  • Grown and harvested in the 1980s, aged for over 35 years
  • Silky, full mouthfeel with remarkable clarity
  • Can be steeped at least five times without bitterness

How to Enjoy

For the best tea-drinking experience, we recommend using a gaiwan and enjoying multiple infusions. This royal pu-erh can be steeped at least five times without turning bitter, allowing you to unlock the full depth, complexity and maturity of the leaves over the course of a single, leisurely session.

Brew it for a special occasion, share it with fellow tea lovers or savor it slowly on your own. However you enjoy it, 1980's 35 Years Aged Royal Pu'erh is a rare chance to taste history in a cup.

I love love love this tea the umami taste is amazing. It is fermented tea it is supposed to have a note almost like what you would say umami tastes like a note of dashi stock but I love that taste. It is not very fishy it is a distinctive taste and i would say an acquired taste maybe. If you like umami you will love this.

I have been drinking this tea for several years, now and still love it! I buy two types of Pu'erh, one is the Vintage Aged 20 years and the other is the 1980's 35 Years Aged Royal Pu’erh Guangxi. I started drinking Pu'erh years ago from David's Tea. Then they discontinued the Pu'erh teas. They had two of them and both gone. Then, David's tea went out of business. These teas were my coffee and I had to find another source! Tealyra came up and I did some research and found out this was a Canadian company and they supported sustainability along with GMO free, Sugar free, dairy free, among others. The first I tried were the two above and once I tasted it I knew I would be with this company forever.... When I started to purchase Pu'erh from them they only had two types and they were the ones above. I see they have expanded their class of Pu'erh. I drink a large cup, thermos I usually scoop 1 good tbsp of tea and I let it steep for a long time. I don't like to drink it hot and I am definitely okay drinking it cold/room temperature. It usually takes me most of the morning and early afternoon to finish my cup! I'm not a coffee drinker, but I did start to drink coffee and it's not bad! I drink my tea always "black" And, coffee, too "black." It can be an acquired taste I guess, but I love it!

Relatively new to the ripe/raw, and from what I've had so far, this is pretty good pu erh. I steep a little shorter than most people (30 seconds- 1 minute) so I can get all the good flavor profiles. First steep was really rich, not too thick, very smooth. This doesn't have all the musty, grassy, malted gym sock taste that some of the other raw/ripes have, and isn't leaving my mouth dry. The leaves also look shorter and thinner, I would guess that it is a higher grade tea? It's unique in my budding (lol) collection and I rank it up there with my white and tribute pu erh. Literally marked it A+. Try some, you might like it.

I have been drinking Pu Erh Tea for several years and aged tea is my favourite. Smooth earthy tastes with a beautiful colour when milk is added {pink tones}. I cannot agree with some of the comments here about a fish smell, it smells nothing like fish and the taste is perfect, even better than my usual tea supplier. The cost of the tea is also very reasonable for a vintage 35-year-old Pu Erh tea. Highly recommend and I will be buying more soon.
