Description

Sencha is Japan's most popular tea; it is characteristically known for its balance in both sweetness and its mild astringency. Sencha Ikkyu is grown in Shizuoka prefecture, famous for its green tea production. Once picked, these first flush (typically around February in milder climates) tea leaves are lightly steamed by artisans to draw out and perfect their balanced flavor.

Its dark, slender leaf is fragrant, shiny, and rich in color. Once steeped, the aromatic, savory infusion produces a full-tasting sencha that is savory, grassy, and vegetal in flavor, with a clear, brilliant yellow-green liquor with a lovely touch of umami.
