Description
Jasmine Yellow Tea – A Rare Jasmine Tea on a Yellow Tea BaseJasmine pairs best with a fresh, brisk tea, which is why most jasmine teas are made with green tea. We wanted something different, so we chose yellow tea, a tea that sits between green and black. It keeps the freshness of green tea and the sweetness of black tea, and together with jasmine it creates a flowery, honey-like flavor. Don't be surprised by the twisted dark leaves with golden tips: this is how our yellow tea looks before it unfurls in the pot. Tasting Notes
Origin and CraftThe yellow tea grows on Mt. Cloudy near Pu'er in Yunnan, at 1400 m (about 4, 600 ft) and higher, from the Snow Buds 100# cultivar. Yellow tea is made only in China: after a start much like green tea, the warm leaves are left to slowly “yellow” before drying, which softens the leaf and brings out its sweetness. Ours is about 20% oxidized and given a medium roast. The jasmine flowers come from Hengxian in Guangxi, a low-lying jasmine region at about 50 m (165 ft), where the tea is scented.
